Etude House Play Nails Smokey Top Coat Review - The Easiest Ombre Ever Using Only Two Nail Polishes And No Mixing

Etude House Play Nails Smokey Top Coat

I found this on sale for a few dollars when I was buying some other Korean cosmetics, and thought 'Hey why not?' even though I had no idea what it was supposed to do. I'm glad I did.

Here is the top of the bottle.
Basically, it darkens the colour of the base polish beneath it. To test it, I started off with Covergirl Outlast Stay Brilliant nail polish in Mint Mojito #285.

Covergirl Outlast Stay Brilliant nail polish in Mint Mojito #285.

Once completely dry, I then painted all the nails except my pinky with the top coat. I left it to dry, and then painted all the nails but the pinky and the nail adjacent to it with the top coat. Then just my thumb and forefinger with the next coat, followed by one final coat on my thumb.

The results are not 100% perfect, but I blame the base nail polish - the Etude House Smokey Top Coat actually improved the smoothness after I had a little trouble with the Covergirl polish which didn't want to apply nice and evenly. All in all, I'm completely satisfied with the purchase.

If you give this a go yourself, remember to use a top and base coat to increase longevity.

The label is in Korean, but I've been told that it says that it is a smokey top coat.
